Zambezi

This remote corner of Zambia is famous for its big game and remarkable variety and concentration of wildlife. Lower Zambezi remains largely unspoiled by tourism for a true experience of wilderness in all its breathtaking and unpredictable glory. Lower Zambezi National Park has no paved roads, so you’re unlikely to encounter fellow adventurers in safari vehicles, and it really will feel like it’s just you, the stunning wildlife and wide stretches of picturesque beauty.

Several areas of Lower Zambezi have been declared as World Heritage sites by UNESCO because you’re likely to see large herds of elephants and buffaloes, Nile crocodiles and more predators than you could shake a stick at (not literally!), including lions, leopards, hyenas and wild dogs.

Much of this activity is centred around the Zambezi River, where hundreds of elephants often gather to drink, take the weight off their feet and play.

A Lovely Surprise

Dear Kerry What a lovely surprise waiting for us at the lodge. We are so touched and will wear the caps with pride! So far, so VERY good! Everything has gone so smoothly: transfers waiting, hotel really great. Finding the Zambians so friendly, helpful, efficient and SMILEY! I'll write to you again after Kitwe. Thank you again.

Best Tour Operator

Best tour operator in Africa Kerry and her team are best planners who find those unique experiences that only few locals know. Her knowledge of the lodges and tours in Zambia and Southern Africa is deep and extremely rare. Her team are the most responsive and go out of their way to solve some tough challenges we faced. I cant imagine using anyone else again.

Fantastic

I can’t thank Kerry and the team enough for the wonderful holiday we have just experienced, all organised by Ntanda Ventures. From the moment we arrived in Zambia and completed our holiday in Victoria Falls we were well taken care of and nothing was too much trouble for Kerry to take care of on our behalf. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We will return and certainly use you for any future bookings.

Lower Zambezi National Park

Swimming Hippo

One of the biggest draws of Lower Zambezi National Park is its sheer openness. There are no fences closing you off from animals, so they can (and do!) roam free across the land.
Head out on a walking safari with some of the best and most qualified guides Zambia has to offer before stepping aboard a boat or taking a canoe down the sparkling river, where you’ll be able to see hippos peeking above the water and have a go at catching a mighty Tiger Fish, all while almost 400 species of resident and migrant birds fly overhead, glimpsing at Lower Zambezi’s many marvels.
But it’s when the sun sets that the park really comes alive. If you’re used to heavy light pollution, you probably won’t have ever seen the sky quite like you will from your intimate lodge.

Lower Zambezi Accommodation: Where to Stay

Luxury doesn’t have to mean unsustainable. Since the Lower Zambezi National Park is the first carbon-neutral park in the world, you can enjoy the holiday of a lifetime without worrying about your carbon footprint. Zambezi offers several camps to stay in, and our favourites are:

Chiawa Camp

Chiawa Camp:

Located around an hour downstream from its sister camp the Old Mondoro, Chiawa Camp offers a first-class safari experience. Watch buffalo wander freely through the camp and head out on a trek with some of the best guides Africa has to offer — all trained to extremely high standards — who know exactly where all the hidden gems are. Stand in awe as they track down an elusive Pangolin or a family of leopards from their tracks, then relax at camp or burn off all the tasty food you’ll enjoy during your stay in the camp’s gym.

Sausage Tree

Sausage Tree Camp:

You’ll enjoy endless luxury at the Sausage Tree Camp, from candlelit dinners under the stars to stunning wildlife sightings from your private pool and deck. Each suite comes with a personal butler, and you might not want to leave your tent! But it’ll be well worth it when you do, whether you take a night drive to see the nocturnal wildlife come out to play or head to the communal dining area for homemade treats beneath the stars.

Royal Zambezi Lodge

Royal Zambezi Lodge:

Just a ten-minute drive from Lower Zambezi National Park is the Royal Zambezi Lodge, a luxury camp where you can relax in style against a stunning mountain backdrop. Sit back as animals roam the camp, head for a massage at the award-winning Bush Spa or embrace the DNA policy and Do Nothing at All.

Baines River Camp Pool

Baines River Camp:

Baines River Camp is a colonial style safari lodge, named after the famous artist and explorer Thomas Baines. The Lower Zambezi National Park is the first carbon-neutral National Park in the World. Offering offers specialised photographic workshops, fly fishing clinics and elephant studies led by passionate specialists. This Luxury accommodation with airconditioning is undoubtedly the ultimate choice for a family safari, an unforgettable honeymoon or a corporate getaway.
