View from Victoria Falls Bridge

There are a number of ways to experience the Victoria Falls adventure, but we love the slow way and get up close on foot. There are several walking trails around the falls that allow you to get close to the water and feel the spray from the falls. Go for the famous Knight Edge Bridge, where you can see the spectacular rainbows falls, and moonbows at night. Bring waterproof cameras because you will get wet. You can also walk down into the gorge that is split by two almost straight cliffs from where you see the enormous amount of water thundering down.  Make sure you are wearing good shoes as the rocks can be slippery. The best time to walk is early in the morning or late in the afternoon when it is not too hot. For the more adventurous, there are possibilities to abseil from the basalt cliff into the gorge while you have the falling water of the falls in the background. It’s an amazing experience and one that you will never forget! Check out the below video for why is Victoria Falls famous.

Best Time to Visit Victoria Falls

The best time to visit the falls is between March and May when the water level is at its highest. The rainy season is from November to February. Though spectacular, the mist prevents long panoramic views from the hotel or nearby viewpoints. The dry season is from June to October. The water level is lower during this time.  However, the Victoria Falls is still an impressive sight. While Victoria Falls is at its biggest at the end of the rainy season, you might want to come a little later if you also love to do water activities, of which some are too dangerous by that time. The sensory overload in sound and water showers might also not be enjoyed by everyone. The Zambian side of the falls might dry out in October / November.
